1) How long have you been practicing yoga? Why did you decide to teach?
30 years of practice. I decided to teach because I felt it was the right time for me ,…. I love interacting with the yoga community. Every level is welcome and I love to work with each student as they all have their own unique practice. 2) Why do you love to teach at hot vault?
Teaching at hot vault makes me happy,.
I love the variety of classes and it’s in great location next to Fit Foodz Cafe! That's a huge plus where after class I go for a refreshing drink!
3) What is your favorite workout to do in your free time? My #1 is Bikram! But I love Hot LIFT! Marina is my fave!
4) What’s one thing about you that most people don’t know? Many people don’t know that I danced all my life. My first dance class was African dancing with Ms. Marie Brooks in Brooklyn. I attended LaGuardia performing arts high school and majored in dance.. I danced with Jacques de’ Amboise in New York City and I received a scholarship with Alvin Ailey, also in New York City.
5) What’s the most rewarding thing about teaching yoga? I’ve learned from my students and continue to grow and learn. It brings me joy to see students continue to achieve their goals through this set series practice.
6) What’s your favorite thing to do outside of fitness? I bowl! I’m on a bowling team.
7) What do you want people to know about the bikram practice? Bikram is is a set series of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises. It’s base on awareness, breath, concentration, open eye meditation, and discipline. It is precise and direct - it’s just you -your mind, body and soul! We don’t add anything to the practice and we don’t take away anything from the practice. With consistency, anything is possible!
