Reformer on the Mat Challenge
The purpose of the Reformer on the Mat Challenge Workshop is to learn how to incorporate the exercises normally practiced on the Reformer and teaches these exercises within the framework of a Mat class. This class challenges concentration and control as it demands one to remember the Reformer order and execution of the exercises without the aid of the Reformer or the spring resistance that it provides.
Reformer on the Cadillac
The purpose of the Reformer on the Cadillac Workshop is to learn how to some of the exercises from the Reformer vocabulary and teach these exercises within the framework of the Cadillac. This class challenges concentration and control as it forces one to image the Reformer setup and execution of the exercises and applies them to the various bars and springs of the Cadillac (for example Short Box Series and Rowing Series.)
The purpose of the Prenatal Pilates workshop is to learn how to safely and appropriately teach pregnant clients. This workshop explores the various changes the body goes through during pregnancy, and how this will affect the workout throughout the course of the pregnancy. The focus of this workshop is teaching how to modify the exercises as the pregnancy progresses.
Similar to the Prenatal Pilates, special needs and considerations are necessary in order to safely and appropriately teach the Postnatal client. This workshop will explore those needs and how to teach a client whom the doctor to return to exercise shortly after having a baby has cleared. The focus of this workshop will be how to modify the exercises right after returning to the workout and how to safely advance and challenge the client in ways that will help the new mom adapt to her new lifestyle.
Although the Foam Roller is not a classical Pilates prop, it is a wonderful teaching tool that provides great feedback of our body’s imbalances. The purpose of the Foam Roller Workshop is to teach how to incorporate this tool in the framework of a Mat class. This workshop will also teach some more traditional uses of the foam roller that will facilitate manual massage of too often very tight areas of our body so that the client can leave feeling more balanced.
The Manual vs. Real Life
The Manual Versus Real Life Workshop will explore the differences between the ideal versions of the exercises as well as the ideal version of a workout session and contrast them with the challenges of teaching in a real life situation. This workshop will address how to prepare clients for a group class, discuss how to choose exercises appropriate for the clients and when to add in new exercises to challenge them. Included are different ways to modification exercises.
Super Advanced Exercises on All Apparatus that Most Instructors Do NOT Know How to Do or Teach
As Classical Pilates instructors it is important that we carry on the exercises that Joseph Pilates taught and many of which are now relegated to the archives and often get forgotten. The Super Advanced Exercises on All Apparatus that Most Instructors Do Not Know How to Do or Teach explores many of these exercises that show the fullness and depth of the Pilates Method. These exercises are fun ways to challenge ourselves and inspire us to continue to be students of the Method.
Growing Your Pilates Career
The purpose of the Growing your Pilates Career Workshop is to help instructors understand the industry and the business side of Pilates. This workshop will discuss a multitude of ways to enhance a Pilates career and the different career paths available to instructors. The workshop will explore the expansive possibilities available to Pilates instructors.
